Skin Series © Mary Heebner 2000

These paintings in the SKIN series are on air-dried, overbeaten, handmade abaca paper.

They measure 38" x 14" I drew with graphite and painted with dilute acrylic paints and powdered pigment in a methyl cellulose binder.

The images are based on Cycladic cannonical figures, circa 5000 B.C.E. in these nearly life-sized paintings. The paper is skin thin, translucent; the drawing is calligraphic, lines and dots.
