The monks in Sikkim crowd my mind. Who were those shy people, now a half a moon away? Monks: playful young seven year olds, with runny noses and chipped-tooth giggles, old men the shape of gnarled walking sticks, adolescent men strolled hand-in-hand murmuring mantras on smooth wooden beads. On a crabgrass lawn in front of Phensang Gompa three equally bald generations practiced for Losang New Year's festivities. They prayed, drummed, blew horns and spun in gyres. Read more...
